The main tent camp and lodge are nestled on 700 acres, deep within the pristine Savegre River Valley. This unique rainforest ecosystem is located 30 kilometers south of Quepos on the Pacific Coast. Guests can enjoy a wide array of outdoor activities nearby such as whitewater rafting, rainforest canopy tours horseback riding, and world-class birding!

The luxury safari tents are situated on hardwood decks and were imported from South Africa.  These are designed to connect guests with nature yet keep the insects and "creepies" at bay. Fully appointed, finished bathrooms connect to each tent. Although you may be far removed from civilization...staying at Rafiki is hardly roughing it!  Rafiki's natural beauty and our little touch of Africa will ensure that you have an unforgettable experience.

Review:  The Boshoff family left South Africa in 1987 and became United States citizens in 1992. They always missed the wilderness and fell in love with Costa Rica's natural beauty, wonderful climate, and peaceful political situation. In 1999 they acquired the spectacular property in the pristine rain forest and Rafiki (friend in Swahili) was born.

The restaurant "Rancho" is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a spectacular view of forest mountains and the Savegre River Valley. The well equipped Lekker Bar boasts an indoor waterfall, and can comfortably seat up to 14 Guests.

All of the furnishings in the Rancho and bar were handcrafted on the property from native woods. The decor of the bar is a unique blend of South African and Costa Rican artifacts.

The nine spacious South African luxury safari tents are pitched on hardwood decks, each with its own private bathroom and "fire-heated" hot water shower. The tents are enclosed units to provide an insect free nights sleep, and can easily accommodate up to four people. Enjoy a magnificent view from the porch!
