Day 1 Arrival to Costa Rica At the pre-arrange time personnel from Costa Rica Dream Travel Corporation will be at the airport to welcome your passengers, give them the trip documentation and transfer them to the hotel in San José. Day 2 The Pacuare River Experience On the Río Pacuare 2 Day Trips, you'll enjoy one of the most amazing rainforest experiences possible - breathtaking beauty far removed from civilization's rush and heart-pounding excitement. It is certain to be a highlight of your stay in Costa Rica. The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids. You'll depart San José early in the morning, heading towards the Caribbean and crossing the amazing Braulio Carrillo National Park. You will arrive at our Rios Tropicales Operations Center in time for breakfast, clothing changes or last minute needs. Once ready you will be taken to our private putt-in in San Martin, your friendly and professional guides will load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment and give you complete safety and paddle instruction. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest. While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll be led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim. Before you know it, you'll arrive at the award-winning Ríos Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall and pools. Enjoy our Canopy at no additional cost! Nestled in the jungle on our 1,000-acre private reserve, the lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Private single and double rooms are spacious with clean linen, and there are modern bathrooms and showers. Electricity is generated by a self-sufficient hydro-plant. Happy Hour will put you in the mood for a tropical evening, followed by a luscious candlelight dinner with wine served by your guides. Day 3 Adventures in the Jungle After a hearty breakfast and loading the rafts, you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop by the riverside lets you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montañas and many more, will have you cheering ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served at our New Ríos Tropicales Operations Center. Showers, changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are also available. After the tour, we will continue to Sarapiqui. During the rest of the day, you will have leisure time to enjoy the area. Day 4 The mysteries of the night wildlife During the day, you will have leisure time to enjoy the area. At night, discover the wonders of the forest when most species are active. During the two-hour walk, a naturalist guide will tell you about the natural history of the various nocturnal species of the tropical rainforest. The guide will focus on nocturnal species such as: insects, frogs, bats, and nocturnal mammals amongst others, giving you a different perspective of the rainforest. After this interesting tour we return to rest at the hotel. Day includes: Breakfast, Night Walk Tour (tour guide, transportation, explanation and entrance fee), lodging and taxes. Day 5 Arenal Volcano During the afternoon, you will be transferred from Sarapiqui to La Fortuna town, home of the Arenal Volcano. After check in enjoy all the facilities at the hotel. Day includes: Breakfast, shuttle transportation from Sarapiqui to Fortuna, lodging and hotel taxes. Total transfer time from Sarapiqui to Arenal is 2 hours approximately. Day 6 The magic of the Rainforest After breakfast is time to enjoy one of the vogue attractions in Costa Rica for many tourists, the real Canopy Tour. This canopy is at the foot of the mountain range where Arenal volcano is located. The view of the volcano from within this rain and very humid forest is spectacular. The tree top canopy has twelve platforms and ten zip lines. The platforms are at an elevation of 150 feet. The shortest cable is 195 ft. and the longest is 1200 ft. It makes the adventure more exciting and high adrenaline. The adventure begins when you arrive at the stables and the guides give you a safety briefing. You then get fitted up with your equipment, mount up, and ride 45 minutes through a pasture and wooded area that is host to monkeys, sloths, toucans, and other birds. When you arrive at the canopy, you are given the balance of the necessary equipment. Then we continue with a short hike through the forest where a guide gives an informative narration about the forests, plants, and trees that prevail in this kind of tropical area. Sometimes it is possible to see several species of animals, such as: white faced and howler monkeys, rodents, and a great diversity of birds, as well as an enormous variety of orchids and canopy plant life. The trees are adults that tower above the platforms. The tree top canopy tour not only offers a great adventure but also an opportunity to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. On each platform the adventurers also have a chance to observe the forest from different angles and to photograph the beautiful landscapes. All the platforms are designed for observation of wildlife and not to damage it. Trees like Cocora (billia hippocastanum), Monkey’s Comb (apeiba membranacea), and Capulín (mortoniodendron apetala) are just a few of the trees that you will see. Maybe this Canopy Tour is one of the last that you could see into a real primary forest. Flying high over the canopy of primary and secondary forest and feel what live means for nature. After tour time at leisure and relax. By sunset, you will experience the mystic waters of Arenal, Costa Rica’s largest and most breathtaking lake. You will enjoy a spectacular view of the powerful volcano, still active with lava spewing from its peaks daily. Day 7 The amazing Arenal Volcano During the morning, delight your adventure spirit with a biking tour to El Castillo. This ride takes us on an old road connecting Arenal Dam with the main entrance to Arenal Volcano National Park. From there we go towards the village of El Castillo, biking on a quiet lane surrounded by dense forest and few cattle farms. Along the ride we often see howling monkeys, coatis and many birds like toucans, egrets and king fishers. We’ll stop for a picnic on the shore of Lake Arenal where it’s possible to swim. The volcano in visible during most of the ride and we can often hear its activity while we bike. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel. During the rest of the day, leisure time to enjoy the area. Day 8 Arenal – Tamarindo Beach After breakfast you will be transferred from Arenal Area to Tamarindo Beach. Enjoy your time in the Pacific! Day 9 ATV Adventure Day Today, enjoy the adventure of the ATVs at Tamarindo Beach, with the ATV Mountain Trip. This is a truly exciting tour through the dry forest of Guacanaste. The amazing views from the top of the mountain and the wild life will make this journey just unbelievable. After you enjoy this amazing adventure, you will return to the hotel. Day 14 San Jose – International Airport At the pre-arrange time, and according to the international flight schedule, you will be transferred from the hotel in San Jose to the International Airport to take the international flight back. Day includes: Breakfast and private transportation.
